Valentine Prayer

by Paula Edwards

Lupa's was the day
Valentine stole away
A festival of naked powers
Now reduced to flowers
Nonetheless it must be said
Both their colours were of the red
Roses scarlet bright and clear
Woman's pink, seen best from the rear

Valentine focuses on the emotion
Causing heartache and commotion
Wrapped around economic gain
Creating for all, financial pain

Lupa's was a different story
Steeped in the body's finest glory
Physical lust was his party
Leaving all feeling hale and hearty

Celebrate the body's joys
Come you all both girls and boys
Dance and sing with feast and wine
Then consummate with the divine

Lay you down upon the ground
When your desire you have found
Love them there, love them then
Do it over and over again

Feel the grass with winter's dew
Rolling over each inch of you
See the steam rise in turn
As body's coupling makes you burn

Ah Lupa, Lupa, claim back your day
Send the bogus 'tine away
Lead us back to natural bliss
And seal it all with a great big kiss
