The Beowulf Poem and Me

A disclaimer

Right, let's get this straight - this site is not connected with the Beowulf poem or any of its offshoots in any way. If you came here through a search engine looking for the Beowulf poem or information about it here are some links below that might help you.

The British Library - home to the manuscript.

www.Beowulf Translations.net/ - Syd Allan's excellent hub site with information about the Beowulf poem and the Anglo Saxon world.

Electronic Beowulf - high-tech scientific jiggery-pokery that's been done on the manuscript, ultra-violet scans, fibre-optic stuff, all rather impressive really.

Lone Star.net - an online translation.

Please don't bother writing to me asking why you can't find the poem on this site - I didn't write it or translate it which means it isn't mine to publish and therefore it isn't here.

So why have I got this page here at all, you may ask? I'll tell you. when I was born my father was working on his university degree and part of his studies involved the Beowulf poem in the original Anglo saxon. He got pretty heavily into it at the time and decided when I came along that it would be good to give me the name...

Some of you might be thinking wow, how brilliant - let me tell you it is not. It made me the target of hateful bullying and teasing at school and now the subject of a million and one tedious questions that I'm sick to the back teeth of answering. Thankfully, I gained a nickname some years ago and I'm a lot more comfortable with that, thank you very much.

OK, end of rant...
